Simple pantry ingredients make this dish easy anytime:
  • Jasmine rice: 200 g
  • Kidney beans: 252 g, drained
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, chopped
  • Onion: 1 large, sliced into semi circles
  • Tomato puree: 30 g
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Water: 400 ml

How to make it

Everything cooks together in one pot for maximum flavor:
  1. Slice the onion into semi circles and finely chop the garlic.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and sauté until softened.
  4. Add the chopped garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the rice and tomato puree, stirring well so the rice gets lightly toasted and coated.
  6. Pour in 400 ml of water, or more if you prefer a slightly more runny texture.
  7. Bring everything to a boil.
  8. Cover the pot, reduce the heat, and simmer for 6 minutes.
  9. Add the kidney beans, cover again, and simmer for another 6 minutes.
  10. Serve warm.
